Backward-bending postures are very effective at opening the upper back, chest, shoulders and front groin, and they help improve spinal flexibility.
These postures are very energetic and develop strength in the back, legs and shoulders.
They should not be practiced close before bedtime because they elevate body heat and are invigorating.
After doing these postures, you should do a series of cooling postures such as forward bends to allow the spine to realign.
