Task: you will perform rhythms following the beat of the crotchet.
Materials: a table (to use as your percussion surface), a drumstick or something similar (like a pencil or wooden spoon), sheets of paper, coloured card, a metronome or the sound of a metronome (remember you can find a free online metronome by searching on the internet).
Instructions: Watch the video below several times so that you can understand the pulse of each note or group of notes.
-Draw and cut the coloured card and paper to create visual cues to guide your practice as in the video.
-Set your metronome to the right tempo. You can start at 40 BPM and increase speed till you get to 50 BPM, which is the tempo used in the video.
-Use the drumstick to tap rhythms on the table, keeping a steady beat based on the pulse shown by the image of the notes.
-Focus on accuracy and control.
