Creative lab: instruments and melodies
There are three melodies here to improvise body and glockenspiel percussion as well as ukelelepaying while paying attention to all the elements studied in this unit.
Hungarian Dance
Let's start this section learning about BAPNE, which stands for Biomechanics, Anatomy, Psychology, Neuroscience, and Ethnomusicology and refers to the method developed by Dr. Javier Romero, professor at the University of Alicante, who uses body percussion and rhythmic patterns to stimulate the brain and improve cognitive abilities such as memory, focus and even body awareness and coordination between brain's hemispheres. It is a method which helps people with learning and neurological needs like dyslexia, brain injury, Alzheimer's disease, etc.
1-Here are the four rhythmic paterns you will need to practise before moving on to the full melody. As you have probably realised, all the exercises in the Creative Lab section help coordination, memory, body awareness as well as a real practice of all the music elements studied.
2- Now that you have assimilated all movements, let's put them together to perform a complete percusion with the song. Watch the video and rehearse till you can do the same. Pay attention to tempo changes!
3.
The next step involves all students. Sit in a circle and play the sound file. Do you remember all the movements? Practise till you can do it properly. Use the sound file to help you follow the melody.
Crocodile Rock
1-Here you have the melody Crocodile Rock to practise the different chords in the key of G Major and to work on following the correct rhythm and pulse by using a glockenspiel. Be careful! The first two bars are just a guide to help you start on time in bar three. This first activity is to practise along with the video.

2- This second activity consists of playing the glockenspiel but only with the melody. Listen and try to be as accurate as possible.
Aloha Oe
What about learning to play the ukulele? It is the right time! Until now, your teacher has guided you—but now it’s your turn. Pay close attention to how your fingers are placed on the strings, and practice each chord carefully so you can perform this piece along with the audio melody.
Here is the score to indicate you which chord you have to play.
And this is the sound file to use it at the same time as the you play the ukelele.
Here are two videos to help you know what exactly you have to do. The first one contains the melody to be accompanied by the ukelele and the second one is the ukelele tune so that you can sing the melody.
