  • We can create exclamatory sentences with 'what' and with 'how'.


  • Exclamatory sentences express strong emotions.


  • Exclamatory sentences end with an exclamation mark ('!')

EXCLAMATORY SENTENCES WITH 'HOW': 

How do we form them? 


a) How + adjective + !: 

Example: How wonderful!

b) How + adjective + subject + verb + !

Example: How wonderful life is!

c) How + adverb + subject + verb + !

Example: How quickly she eats!

d) How + subject + verb + !

Example: How you dance!

e) How + adjective + verb + subject + !

Example: How intelligent you are!

a) What + a/an + adjective + singular countable noun + !

Example: What a dangerous lion!


b) What + a/an + adjective + singular countable noun + subject + verb + !

Example: What a dangerous lion you are!


c) What + noun + !

Example: What beauty! 


d) What + noun + subject + verb + !

Example: What beauty this is! 


e) What + adjective + uncountable / plural noun + !

Example: What cold water!  (water: uncountable noun)

Example: What dangerous lions! (lions: countable noun in plural form)


f) What + adjective + uncountable / plural noun + subject + verb + !

Example: What cold water this is!  (water: uncountable noun)

Example: What dangerous lions these are! (lions: countable noun in plural form)
