  • To greet somebody according to the moment of the day:

Good afternoon!

  • To ask how somebody is:

How are you?

It's nice to meet you.

It's really nice to meet you.

It's a pleasure to meet you.

Good to see you.

Something curious...

Noon is twelve o'clock in the day: midday. After that moment, it is 'afternoon'. In Spain we have lunch later (at about 14:30), so our 'tarde' starts much later than the English afternoon!
