BOOKS WITH NO WORDS

|
The fact that a book has no words does not imply that it is intended only for kids. It does not also imply that is has "less story", because image is a universal language, so complete and effective as the word itself. There exist prejudices around illustration as a good means for children, but not so much for adults. Great masterpieces of illustration have shown that they can multiply stories, emotions, sensations, without any need to use words. One good example is Shaun Tan's work, telling fascinanting open stories without words. Or also André Dahan, with his Helico and the Bird, and the three Libros del Ratón, by Monique Félix. |
