Projects

Project

There are some projects that will help you and the other students know some more things about instruments and instrument ensembles. Your teacher will tell you which projects best suits you.

a) In pairs, create a poster with the classification of instruments. You can use cardboard and markers or software as Canva or Mindmap. You will find the information in this unit. When you have finished, explain the classification to the other students.

b) Use the school library to find and explain what the following instrumental ensembles consist of: philharmonic orchestra, symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, concert band, string ensemble, woodwind ensemble, jazz band and rock band. In pairs choose one ensemble. You can gather the information in a slideshow either with LibreOffice Impress, Google slides or Canva. Here you have some links that may help you fulfil the tasks: instrument ensembles 1, instrument ensembles 2, instrument ensembles 3, instrument ensembles 4. When you have finished, you will have to explain it to the rest of students.

c) Create a poster with the placement of instruments in a symphony orchestra. You can use cardboard and markers or software as canva or mindmap. Here you have some links that may help you fulfil the tasks: orchestral positioning 1, orchestral positioning 2, orchestral positioning 3. When you have finished, you will have to explain it to the rest of students.

All projects can be uploaded to the class blog so that you can share with all students. Remember blog tips:

d) Every student collects data about the instruments that their families have got at home or play. Include:

-Name.

-Type and material.

-Who plays it.

-How it entered the family.

-When it is played.

After having collected data, read them aloud for the rest of the class. Are there many instruments? Who plays them mainly? What conclusions can you reach after listening to your classmates? Can you think of any ideas so that more pople become interested in playing an intrument?
