7.4. The goalkeeper

The goalkeeper is a very important player in floorball.

These are the specific rules that the goalkeeper has to follow:

  • The goalkeeper can not play with the hockey stick.
  • The goalkeeper can stop the ball with any part of the body.
  • The goalkeeper must either stand up or crouch down.
  • The goalkeeper is not allowed to kneel down, lie down or sit down.
  • If the goalkeeper grabs the ball then it must be played before 3 seconds are up. The ball must touch the floor or the side of the court or a player before crossing the centre line.
  • The goalkeeper cannot score a goal.
  • The goalkeeper cannot abandon the goalkeeping area.
  • The goalkeeper can wear long trousers, a long sleeve shirt, knee pads and a mask.
