Melodic reading practice 1
Let's learn to sing major and minor key tunes properly. You will find a melody in major key and then the same melody in minor key. To get the best tuning, practice with these exercises. It doesn't matter if you start slowly but the idea is to increase speed with practice. When you finish practising, study and memorize the staves in the exercises .
| Exercise 1: major scale |
|
This exercise is thought to work on consecutive notes (the scale), articulation, and accentuation (accent, fermata, tenuto, slur), as well as dynamics. Use the sound to see how well you are doing. |
| Exercise 1: minor scale |
|
Now it is time to sing the exercise in the minor key. Listen to the audio carefully and activate your auditory memory to imitate the proposed melody. |
| Exercise 2: major scale |
|
In this exercise you will find consecutive notes (the scale), articulation, and accentuation (staccatissimo, tenuto, slur, sforzando, fermata), as well as dynamics. Here's the audio file. |
| Exercise 2: minor scale |
|
As in the first exercise, you have the exercise but in a minor key. Listen to the audio and imitate the tune to activate your auditory memory. This is the corresponding stave. |
