C scale Kodaly hand signs
We are going to practise Kodaly hand signs placing the hand in the right place according to the note pitch for C scale. Pay attention! The first video uses only one hand, while the second, as orchestra conductors do, use both hands. Practise till you can do the same properly.

Read the following score of a familiar melody. Afterwards, you have to perform it using Kodály hand signs.

1- Now perform the same ostinato eight times, one per bar in the first part and do the same with the second ostinato for the second part of the melody. Once you have practised, check with the next video if you are doing accurately.
2- It is time to be creative. Divide the class into two groups and create a new body percussion for each part (you can use movements such as rubbing hands, tapping fingers on the palm of your hand, slapping knees, patting thighs with open palms, popping air filled cheeks,etc. Rehearse and perform for the other part of the class.
