Helen Keller was born in 1880 in Alabama (United States). She was a very special child. When she was 19 months old, she got very sick. She couldn’t see, hear or speak: she was totally blind and deaf. It was very difficult for her because she couldn't communicate. When she was 6 years old, she got a teacher named Anne Sullivan. With the help of Anne Sullivan, Helen was able to speak touching objects and people’s lips. The first words she learned were “doll” and “water”. Som e years later she learned Braille, a special system for writing and reading for blind people. She was very intelligent and studied a lot. She graduated at university, studied Arts and wrote many articles and books! She is an example of bravery!
