If you have a smartphone, chances are that you spend several hours a day on text and social media, right?

When texting to Spanish friends and family you probably use a bunch of letters that are shortened versions of words

to save time (such as 'pq', 'd', 'mñn' or 'tqm'). Well, exactly the same happens with British people so deciphering their

mixture of letters and numbers in messages can be tricky if you are not familiar with their code.

You probably know some of these examples:

OMG :  Oh my God! (or Oh my Gosh!)                                                                                      BFF: Best Friends Forever

XOXO:  Hugs and kisses                                                                                                               FAV: Favourite

.

The list is, however, really large and worth knowing.

We'll work hand in hand with a partner now to create a text conversation between you two using as many text

abbreviations as possible. The chat must have a greeting, a central topic and a farewell. It can be about anything that

you would write him/her for (asking about homework, going to the cinema at the weekend, arranging somebody's

birthday, etc.). Use your imagination and agree with your partner.

.

Use the following mobile phone drafts for writing the whole conversation. Remember that the complete conversation

must be visible on the screen. Use 'ME:' when you write; when your partner writes use his/her name as

registered by you, like in a normal smartphone.

You can also use emojis in your conversation. If used, do not forget to colour them! Here you have some:

Remember to add double check (✓✓) at the end of each sentence too. This means that your message has been

received by your partner. Look at this example:

We will read out and share some of your two-way conversations in class.
