TV on Demand
Television plays one of the most significant roles in the entertainment industry of all times. And when we talk about
television we refer to many different types of programmes and subscription world streaming platforms such as
Netflix, HBO or Amazon Prime, these offering an extensive catalogue of films, TV series or documentaries.
As for TV programmes, also called TV shows, we must be aware of their wide variety.
In the following Youtube video you will find a visual sample of 16 types of TV programme. Your task is trying to name
each of them in English, not providing the name of the programme, which is already given most of the times, but its
type. For example, number 1 (Big Brother) is a 'Reality show'.
Go on making deductions on the type of the remaining 15 and write them in the following grid on your notebook. If you
know the programme type in Spanish, but not in English, use the dictionary to look up its translation.
1 | Reality show | 9 | |
---|---|---|---|
2 | 10 | ||
3 | 11 | ||
4 | 12 | ||
5 | 13 | ||
6 | 14 | ||
7 | 15 | ||
8 | 16 |
The time has come to cross-check your estimates. Press the KEY button below to do so.
Once you've done that, pair up with your nearest classmate and try to say a British example for each type. Bear in
mind that some of them exist in Spain too with a Spanish name, such as the ones written below between brackets. Try
to come out with some more by using the internet for queries.
Which ones of these TV shows are in your watchlist? Can you come up with any other type which is not on the list?
