Sound Activities 4

Projects

Teamwork

A) Part of music is how to deal with other musicians, how to be a member of a group, choir, orchestra, etc. Let's see how well you can do it.

  • Choose a song which is a hit at the moment.
  • Find the lyrics and project them on the screen.

Divide the class into five groups. One group will sing loud, another soft, one low and another high. The fifth group will clap their hands. One student will be the conductor (you can change conductor as many times as you want). Here you have some links to information about the role of conductors: link1, link 2link3, link 4, link5 and some videos:

  • Before singing the song, agree on signals to make groups stop and start, sing loud or soft.
  • The conductor makes groups sing or be silent.
  • Rehearse a couple of times and then record a video.

After the activity, watch the video and think about positive aspects and those ones that could be improved: Was it difficult to follow the conductor's instructions? Was it easy to make all students follow instructions? Can you work well in group? Were you aware that you were using some of the characteristics of sound?

B) Choose your favourite place, it can be a park, your room, your garden, the shool playground, the forest, the beach, etc. Sit there for fifteen minutes and write down all the noises or sounds you can hear. Use your mobile phones to record them one by one if possible. Brainstorm what you have recorded and, with the help of your teacher, choose the best quality sounds to upload them and colaborate with INTEF sound and image repository.

Here you have some tips to record properly.
