eng / 10 December, Human Rights Day

Human Rights are the basic freedoms of every person in the world. They are based on equality, dignity, fairness, independence and respect. After the Second World War, many countries started to work on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) which was finally adopted in 1948.

3. In groups of four talk about the articles that have grabbed your attention and why they have grabbed your attention. If you don't understand any articles, this is the moment to ask the members of your group for help.

4. Now choose an article and learn it by heart. You will have to say it aloud in front of the other students and explain why you have chosen that article.

5. Now let's see if you have read the UDHR carefully. Read the following statements and write the corresponding number of the article.

1. Right to life 6. Right to vote
2. Right to education 7. Right to property
3. Right to privacy 8. Right to freedom of expression
4. Right to work 9. Right to food
5. Right to fair trial 10. Right to health care

6. Then we are going to join reality and Human Rights. Read the following dialogue:
a. Hi!
b. Hi!
c. Who are you?
d. I'm article 25.
e. What are you about?

Write your own dialogue using other articles from the UDHR.  Check your spelling with a dictionary and the structure with the given example. Practise the dialogues and act them out. Then record them with a mobile phone or camera to create a campaign using advertisements to draw attention to how things that are happening nowadays are against Human Rights. You should also brainstorm to find an appealing slogan. Then use the Internet to spread your advertisements.
