Human Rights Day is celebrated on 10 December to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted in 1948 by the United Nations General Assembly.

This Declaration contains the rights that human beings have independently of their race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origins, property, birth or other status.

The United Nations helps to organize cultural performances, talks, meetings etc. around the world and organizations and people who have worked in favour of Human Rights receive awards.
