DANCING

Modern dance

In this century all the artists, musicians, painters and dancers wanted to break with the rules from previous centuries.

Therefore in dancing, the modern dance emerged. It was a free dance that did not follow the strict rules of classical ballet and where musicians started to dance barefoot and to do less rigid movements and leaps.

Isadora Duncan is considered to be the mother of modern dance.

Marta Graham stands out and she introduces falls to the ground, and very strange movements in order to express all the range of emotions: anger, fright, happiness, sadness, etc.

That’s how the expressionist or abstract dance appeared that made dancing an independent element to express action and feeling.

Let’s dance with feeling!

How about trying a modern dance? Movements are free, but always trying to express what music makes us feel.

Shall we try it?

We are going to use Debussy’s Clair de Lune

It will be a slow dance and as its title points out we have to imagine we are in a full moon night.

Let’s go!
