The Health Patrol is an organization founded several years ago by a group of volunteers committed to fighting against bad health habits. You already collaborated with them, in the mission called «Xulia does not move». Now, they need your help again. Are you willing to lend a hand?
The Health Patrol
The Patrol teams
To be part of the Health Patrol, you have to organize yourself into teams. In your classroom, you will have to divide into teams of three or four components, following the instructions of your teacher.
The main strength of this way of organizing is that you will function as a true team, and not as a simple working group.
As you already have experience of working in team, surely you have clear the characteristics of good teams. Remember, you are not working groups. You are teams!
What will your mission consist of?
The mission entrusted to Health Patrol teams (you and your companions) will be to make a Guide with tips on healthy eating for girls and boys 11, 12 or 13 years of age.
But before that, you have entrusted some intermediate tasks, which will allow you to learn more about the subject and to confront you without difficulty to the final work.
Intermediate tasks:
- The team collects information on the Network on healthy eating and on the Mediterranean and Atlantic diets, and produces a report.
- The team records what their members eat and drink for an agreed period of time.
- The team creates an infographic about foods suitable for a healthy snack.
- The team makes a comic with information about eating disorders.
Final challenge:
- The team develops a Guide on Healthy Eating for girls and boys.
Assessment
How will your work qualify? Each task, as well as the Final Challenge, will be evaluated with the help of some documents called rubrics, which you have access to at all times, so that they serve as a guide when doing the work. The teachers will evaluate you, but you also have to evaluate your own tasks and those of other colleagues. The following table shows the weight of each task in the final grade.
| TAREA | PESO EN LA NOTA |
|---|---|
| Task 1 | 15% |
| Task 2 | 15% |
| Task 3 | 15% |
| Task 4 | 15% |
| Final Challenge | 40% |
Learning Journal
Each member of the team will carry a Learning Journal, which will record all the concerns, progress and doubts that arise in each of the stages of the project. The elaboration of this Journal is as important as the realization of the different Tasks. All entries in the Journal will be part of the final collection of project products.
Elaboration of the Journal
The Journal will be digital (although you could also use a notebook). Write the Journal entries in a text document that you can create on the Web, and then share it.
- Sign in to your Google Drive account, and create a new text document, which you'll call "New Journal of _______" (put your name in the space).
- Make the first entry in the Journal, which will be entitled "The origin of the project".
- Share the Journal with the teacher. If you do not know how to share, you have a small guide on this link.
