Guided improvisation and score creation

Creative lab: guided improvisation

gif accordion1. This is another of the melodies you have already worked with. You have got the score and the corresponding percussion video. Use a xylophone or a glockenspiel to rehearse enough till you learn it by heart and can play it properly.

2. The second step is to change the score. Substitute the dotted crotchets with three quavers, the value of the notes keeps on being the same but instead of a sound, there are going to be three.

Once you have gcanged the notes, let's check the score. Click on the question mark to see the quavers.

3. It is time to follow the percussion. Watch the video and imitate it till you can perform it fluently. Here you have another example of variation by changing a rhythmic motif.

Score creation

This exercise consists of creating a couple of melodies using the score notation program Musescore. Watch these three videos to remember how to use the program and start creating your melody.

Musescore. Video from The basics (CC BY)
Musescore. Video from Dynamics, Articulation, Tempo. (CC BY)

Now that you have all the information, your task starts. Look at the two scores and do something like that using Musescore. Once you have the empty score, you have to create a melody with each.

Score 1: This is a G-clef, 2/4 time signature. You have to include at least:

- a slurred crotchet and quaver+quaver.

- a dotted crotchet and a quaver.

Score 2: This is a G-clef, 3/4 time signature. You have to include at least:

- a slurred crotchet and quaver+quaver.

- a dotted crotchet and a quaver.

After completing the task, you have to email the two pdf files and the two sound files with your melodies to the teacher.

Clue: Export files.
