"Solfeggio"
What are we singing?
I have a dream is one of the hits by the Swedish group ABBA in the 70s. The song is about hope we should have in life and in the future. ABBA sings it with one choir of a school in Stockholm. It's one of the songs included in Mamma Mia! musical.

Let her go is a single by the British singer Passenger. It was a success and it sold more than a million digital copies in the UK. It won prizes and it is one of the most adapted pop songs.

Change of time signature: 4/4-2/4
The measures we use in this song are 4/4 or 2/4 as you can see in the score.

Let’s review:
- 4/4 is made up of 4 quarter notes in each measure.
- 2/4 has 2 quarter notes in each measure.
To change from one measure to another, there is no change of tempo: the beat is kept but instead of having 4 beats we have 2. In music this change of measure is called beat= beat.
A new tonality
As we have already seen in previous units, tonality and modality are music features that allow us to show different emotions. For the first time we are working with a song that is in G major tonality.
This scale is the same as C major, but instead of beginning in C it begins in G.

The distance among its sounds are the same, that is, the tones and semitones are in the same place. You can check it in the following examples:

Now we will practise it a little bit. Help yourselves with the following recording.
