Body percussion, lyrics and score creation

Creative lab activities

1. Have a look at this video. After watching it and practising the body percussion shown, you have to divide into small groups of three or four and create a new body percussion for the image, as well as lyrics. For body percussion you can use elements such as rubbing hands, tapping two fingers on the palm of your hand, slapping knees, snapping fingers, patting thighs with open palms, popping air filled cheeks, etc. Then practise and perform for the rest of students.

2. Now you only have the sound. You have to divide into groups with different people from the previous activity and use Orff instruments to imitate the melody. The teacher will get a video with the activity. This way you can watch your own performance and the group performance as well. Here you have got a glockenspiel and triangle score.

3. Image meaning critical thinkingCritical thinking activity. Let's talk about your creations. Which lyrics or body percussion did you enjoy the most? What's your opinion about the video using Orff instruments? Did it sound nicely? Do you think there is something that can be improved? Braimstorm your ideas, write them on the blackboard. What can you learn from what all the other students have said?

Score creation

Let's remember how to use MUSESCORE, the program to create scores, because it is time to use it. Watch these three videos to get the basic of how to use the program and start creating your melody.

Now that you have all the information, your tasks start.

a. Activity 1: You have to create scores as the ones in the images using the program MUSESCORE. Once you have created one, you have to export it in MP3 (music) and in PDF (to see the score) and mail it to your teacher. Don't forget to identify the files you send, for example, write: name_surname_unit2_practice_1. There is a link to help you export files at the end of the two proposed activities.

1- score to imitate 1

2- score to imitate 2

3- score to imitate 3

b. Activity 2: You have to create a two four score using six bars. Include, at least, a minim, a minim rest, crotchets, a crotchet rest and quavers. Again, export the files and mail them to your teacher. Don't forget to identify the files (name_surname_unit2_practice_2)

Clue: Export files.
