How to play the service shot?

The main rule to play the service shot is that you have to hit the shuttlecock under your waist. A tennis service is not allowed.

There are more rules that players have to follow related to the service in badminton.

Some of these rules to take into account to play a good service in badminton are:

  1. The server and receiver should be ready. They should stand motionless in the serving and receiving areas.
  2. The server cannot serve if the receiver is not ready.
  3. The server has to hold the shuttlecock from its feathers.
  4. The server lets the shuttlecock fall to the floor. Then, the server has to hit it with the racket under the waist.
  5. The shuttlecock should fly upwards, over the net and in a diagonal direction from the right service court to the opposite right service court or from the left service court to the opposite left service court.
  6. The shuttlecock has to pass the short service line.
