Hellenistic Age
After the Peloponnesian wars, the classical world suffered a deep crisis. This finished with the unification of the entire Greek population under King Philippos of Macedonia. His son, Alexander, went on with his project, opening a new historical period: the Hellenistic Age. This lasted from Alexander to Cleopatra’s death.
Alexander the Great
Alexander is one of the most important
historical figures. He was King Philippo’s son and
he was a pupil of none other than Aristotle. He inherited the reign at
the age of 20 and he ruled until his death at 33. He was a really outstanding
strategist.
He expanded his empire to India spreading the Greek culture. In fact, he created a new multicultural world, based on the Greek culture. He was a sort of first "global" leader. (Click on the map to enlarge).
The Romans imitated its organization centuries later.
