Crete
Crete, the largest Greek island, is in the Aegean Sea. It developed a brilliant civilization during the Bronze Age, called Minoan. This name comes from the legendary King Minos.
Minoans were wealthy people thanks to an important trade network with Egypt and other Mediterranean lands. Their high standard of living is represented by magnificent palaces with hundreds of rooms and marvelous frescoes depicting their every day life. The best example is Knossos palace, as you can see in this 3D virtual reconstruction.
An immense cataclysm ended this prosperous civilization. Afterwards Crete was conquered by the Mycenaeans in 1450 BC ca.
