Vertebrate animals: They have got a column which is formed by vertebrae, the so-called vertebral column. Their body is divided into three parts: head, trunk and tail. They have an internal skeleton. There are five different groups:
Mammals: They are born from the womb of their mother. The female mammals produce milk to feed their young. Their bodies are covered with hair and they breathe through their lungs. Some examples of mammals are: dogs, dolphins and cows.
Birds: they are born from an egg and their body is covered with feathers. They have beaks and wings. They breathe through lungs. Some examples of birds are: sparrows, eagles or hens.
Fish: they are born from an egg and their body is covered with scales. They breathe through gills. Sharks, skate fish and sardines are some examples.
Amphibians: They are born from an egg. Most of them have moist skin. Young amphibians breathe through gills while adults breathe through their lungs and through their skin. Salamanders, frogs and toads are amphibians.
Reptiles: they are born from an egg. Their skin is covered with scales and they crawl to move. They breathe through their lungs. Some examples of reptiles are: snakes, lizards or turtles.
