Charles Babbage's analytical engine at the Science Museum, London.
You can find here information about some of the computer pioneers mentioned in the activities.

1.- Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace:
Charles Babbage is considered the father of computing. He was born on december 26, 1791 in London, England.
He designed the first mechanical computer, which he called the "Difference Engine" a machine that could solve polynomial equations without using multiplication or division. He began developing the machine in 1822, and worked on it for over ten years. Then, hr invented and developed his Analytical Engine in the late 1830s. Like the Difference Engine, the Analytical Engine was never fully constructed, but its design was highly influential.
Ada Lovelace, born Augusta Ada Byron, was a daughter of the poet Lord Byron. Ada Lovelace was also known as Augusta Ada King and the Countess of Lovelace because of her marriage with the Earl of Lovelace.
She is credited as being the world's first computer programmer and developed the first algorithm to be processed by a machine. She helped Charles Babbage with his analytical engine. Their designs were the first to employ several important concepts used in modern computers, including instruction-based operations and a discrete unit for input/output.
