1.- WORLD OCEANS DAY.

Since 2009, June 8th has been declared by the United Nations as "World Oceans Day". The concept was proposed by the Government and the Ocean Institute of Canada, one of the six countries (Russia, USA, Australia, Chile, South Africa and Canada) touching three oceans.

Its purpose is to remember that we all are connected one way or another to the oceans. No matter if we live on the coast or not, we need to be aware of the major role of the oceans in everyday life and to develop a project for the sustainable management of our oceans, recognizing that they are a major source of food and medicines and a critical part of the biosphere.

And, of course, we need to raise awareness of the challenges and dangers oceans face nowadays (climate change, overexploitation, illegal fishing, water pollution ...), most of them because of the human actions on the oceans.
