The main motivation of ATOMIC is to provide to the community an open source tool that can be easily modified and that does not require too much technical knowledge to access the Augmented reality technology. It was created as a front end (Graphic Interface) for use ARToolKit library without having to know programming. The first developer of ARToolkit has been profesor Hirokazu Kato. It was written in the programming language Processing and is licensed under the GNU GPL. The 3d model you load it's up to you.

Nesta páxina imos tratar o tema das aplicacións comerciais que poden ser descargadas desde internet para realizar realidade aumentada dunha forma sinxela e rápida.

Son varias as empresas que ofrecen apps de fácil manexo, con versións de escritorio e de dispositivos móbiles. Poden resultar moi cómodas para educadores e alumnado xa que, sen ter practicamente coñecementos sobre realidade aumentada, con interfaces sinxelas e moi parecidas unhas a outras, pódese montar unha realidade aumentada en poucos minutos.

Dependendo do grao de implicación ou das necesidades do momento podemos optar por versións de pago ou de avaliación. Imos tomar como modelo a aplicación Metaio aínda que outras, por exemplo Aurasma ou Entiti, funcionan de maneira similar.

En primeiro lugar, abriremos a aplicación gratuíta de Metaio Creator xa descargada e instalada no noso computador.

Eliximos un tracker, normalmente unha imaxe fixa, aínda que tamén podemos escoller entre unha imaxe estendida, un obxecto tridimensional ou mesmo rastrear un elemento do ambiente real ou as caras dos nosos amigos.
